Our People

Dan Price
Dan Price is founder and CEO of Gravity Payments, the largest payment processor in Washington State. Gravity began in 2004 when Price, only 19, noticed a growing need in the marketplace. Now 7 years later, Gravity Payments has secured its spot among the top 100 credit card processor in the U.S. for the fourth year in a row and continues to grow exponentially. Gravity has helped business owners save approximately 20 million dollars in credit card processing fees, and has seen annual growth rates as high as 150 percent, going from 560 clients in 2005 to over 7000 in 2010.
Price has committed his career to leveling the playing field in the payment processing industry and offers merchants rates at less than half the margin they would pay with competitors. Unlike large corporations with plenty of negotiating power, small business owners are often subject to unfair rates and business practices in an opaque industry. By developing a way for small businesses to remain competitive in the marketplace, Price has created customer loyalty, growth, and profit for Gravity Payments that is unrivaled.
Price’s innovative approach and contributions to the small business community have earned him prestigious awards such as the 2010 SBA Entrepreneur of the Year Award, 2009 Seattle Mayor’s Small Business Award, and Puget Sound Business Journal’s 40 under 40. He was also named Regional Finalist for the 2010 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Price has been chronicled with extensive media recognition, including features in the Seattle Times, Seattle PI, Puget Sound Business Journal, Seattle Business Monthly, Business Week, Entrepreneur Magazine, INC Magazine, and Forbes.

Lucas Price
Lucas has been a top performer in many aspects of the credit card processing industry. In 2004, he co-founded Gravity Payments. Prominent payment processing industry colleagues know Lucas as a genius and have referred to him in that way many times. At Gravity, Lucas functions on the board of advisors, focusing mainly on finance, information, and technology. He is the driving research force behind new innovations and products at Gravity.
James Diel
James has served in management at Gravity since 2004. With a background in business and public relations, James began selling credit card processing in St. Louis as an advocate for small businesses. He quickly developed a broad understanding of the industry and gained a loyal following of merchants due to his emphasis on consultative, relationship-based selling, and strong focus on high-touch customer service. In 2003, James was sought out by, and went to work for, a well-respected industry start-up called Transaction Transport Technologies (T3) as VP of Business Development. At Gravity, James’ primary focus includes managing the company’s growth in markets such as Missouri, California and Arkansas, as well as developing Gravity’s partner relationships with banks and POS resellers.
